Congratulations to Mrs.  Melissa McDonald, Southdowns as the Teacher of the Year.  She was selected to represent our school due to her ability to in inspire students to want to learn as well as to want to take responsibility for themselves.  These traits have proven to empower our little ones here to be able to face the academic tasks ahead.

Melissa is very open when it comes to accepting children with special needs into her classroom and has had an immeasurable influence on many of our special needs children.  To hear other teachers speak of their appreciation for what Mrs. McDonald has done for their special needs students confirms her willingness to accept and challenge these children.

As an LA4 Pre-K teacher, she actively participates in extracurricular activites and recently coordinated our St. Jude Trike-A-Thon.  We are blessed to have such a dedicated and compassionate teacher such as Melissa McDonald here at SUNNY SOUTHDOWNS.
